This month’s Music Roll, we see and hear the music scene loud with energy, passion, and abuzz with acoustic sweetheart Sabrina brushing shoulders with big names in KPop and Asia, Alden Richards’ landmark in music, Bamboo’s firepower music in new album, Gloc-9′s sparkling anniversary concert series, Sarah Geronimo bringing the top to Smart Araneta, and Kamikazee’s big send-off concert.

Sabrina makes Pinoys proud in Asia Song Festival – Korea

Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart Sabrina is the latest Filipino singer to represent the country at the Asia Song Festival held at Asiad Main Stadium, Busan, South Korea.

Having followed the footsteps of other respected singers that represented the country at the festival such as Kitchie Nadal (2006), Barbie Almalbis (2007), Rivermaya (2008), MYMP (2013), and Kyla (2014), she feels delighted and overwhelmed at the opportunity.

She shares she’s thankful for the warm response and welcome of the crowd and organizers. She was particularly surprised when the crowd sang along to her original song “Hypnotize.” The singer also performed alongside idol group B1A4 with their song “Lonely.”

Sabrina also continues to make waves overseas for being the only Filipino performer at the recent Kuala Lumpur Lake Garden Festival last August. She’s also been touring Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Her “I Love Acoustic 8” album is now certified double platinum in Indonesia and gold in Thailand, and there are already plans of releasing Malaysian and Indonesian versions of the album.

Meanwhile, Sabrina is already busy writing songs for an all-original album for next year release. I Love Acoustic 8 is already out at Astroplus, Astrovision and digital via Spinnr and iTunes.

Bamboo asks fans to ‘Bless This Mess’ in new album

Bamboo’s last release was in 2011 with the breakout “No Water, No Moon” and almost four years later, Bamboo makes a big comeback with the release of his newest album called “Bless This Mess” with lead singles “Firepower” and “Nothing Like You.”

The Voice Ph judge is excited to finally share his newest brand of music to Pinoy music fans both locally and internationally as popular music streaming Spotify launched the single Firepower.  The single is a rock n’ roll song blended with slashing guitar sound. Coconuts Manila calls it somewhat reminiscent of Lenny Kravitz.

The singer-songwriter shares the album is original, loud, rhythmic and with volume, something that will make anyone dance and move to beat to feel the essence of the songs. He adds, to the beat of the drums will make you let your guard down and just let the music take you to places.

“Firepower” is officially heard on digital platforms like Spotify, iTunes, Deezr, Spinnr, Amazon, Guvera Music as well as local radios all over the country starting October 15. Also, they premiered a prelude song “Nothing Like You” that connects to “Firepower” music video, directed by Paolo Valenciano.

Kamikazee to perform “Huling Sayaw” in final show this December

Rock band Kamikazee headed by frontman Jay Contreras recently performed a primer to their final show in December at the 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub, which saw Jay getting emotional during the show with Parokya ni Edgar’s Chito Miranda. The band is best known for songs like “Huling Sayaw,” “Wala,” and “Narda.”

Dubbed “Huling Sayaw,” Kamikazee will give their ultimate all at a farewell performance signalling their official disbandment at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on December 10, Thursday.  The members – Jay Contreras, Jomal Linao, Led Tuyay, Jason Astete and Allan Burdeos have decided to pursue other aspects of life outside the music industry and are all grateful for the long 15 years with their fans.

The show, produced and promoted by Spicy Lemon will be a colourful celebration of Kamikazee’s music and significance in OPM. Tickets on sale via ticketnet.com.ph and all Ticketnet outlets.

Sarah Geronimo is ‘From the Top’ this December

Popstar Princess and The Voice Ph coach Sarah Geronimo is back in the concert scene with her upcoming concert titled “From the Top” at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, December 4, Friday, 8pm. Her last major concert was “Perfect 10” in 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Coming from her recent certified platinum album, “Perfectly Imperfect” released October 2014 with the addictive lead single “Kilometro,” the singer-actress is excited to meet her fans once again in a concert. She also gave a special fan-service when she became a ticket girl for a day at the advance ticket selling this October, as well as giving out autographed posters and photo ops with the fans.

Recently, she also won at the 10th International Singing Contest: The Global Sound for her song Kilometro, making her the first Filipino singer and marking the Philippines as the first Asian country to win the award. She bested 26 other singers from different countries in Asia, US and Europe.

Gloc-9 stages spectacle full ‘Ang Kwento ng Makata’ concert series

Rap icon Gloc-9 brings out the entire spectacle in his “Kwento ng Makata” concert series at the MusicMuseum all Saturdays of October. In celebration of his 18th year in music and birthday show, the so-called “Alalay ng Hari” performs his hard-hitting hits alongside other big names in the industry. The rapper-songwriter also pays tribute to his idol Francis Magalona.

Rico Blanco, Chito Miranda, Ebe Dancel, Maya, Rochelle Pangilinan, Yeng Constantino,  KZ Tandingan, Julie Anne San Jose, Jonalyn Viray, Janno Gibbs, Bamboo, Aiza Seguerra, Jay Durias, Jolina Magdangal, Marc Abaya, Migz Haleco, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez are some of the artists featured at the concert series, truly making this as another feat for Gloc-9. Alden Richards receives certified Platinum for new album

Pambansang Bae Alden Richards of AlDub fame is emotionally happy as his latest album “Wish I May” under GMA Records and self-titled debut album (Universal Records) are both certified gold. Two weeks after, Wish I May already reached Platinum record status. GMA Records also released an official music video of his title track “Wish I May” featuring Alden as different kinds of leading men. Video below by GMA RecordsOfficial.

At the album launch at SM North Edsa, the actor-singer can’t help but be overwhelmed with emotions as he thanks the other half of AlDub, Maine Mendoza, AlDub Nation and most especially his late mother for everything.

Part of the album are cover songs “Thinking Out Loud,” “God Gave Me You,” “Urong Sulong,” and “How Great Is Our God.” His debut album also peaked at no.10 of Billboard World Albums chart.

The “Kalyeserye” loveteam also marked another milestone as their recent “Tamang Panahon” charity concert at the Philippine Arena broke 2014 FIFA World Cup’s semi-final match between Germany and Brazil (35.6 million) with the hashtag #AlDubEBTamangPanahon creating 39 million tweets.
