In Photos: Aia, Barbie and Kitchie are the Women of Rock

This versatile bunch of multi-talented artists seems to have done it all. They performed two sold out shows at the Music Museum billed as “Secrets: A Night with Aia, Barbie and Kitchie”, the first concert was held early December of last year with a repeat performance as a post-Valentine’s celebration. This is the first concert they’ve team-up together that features OPM female dominance, staying power and the desire to keep making music. Alternative-rock icons Aia De Leon, Barbie Almalbis, and Kitchie Nadal are women of rock who sang their hearts out, played OPM favorites, and everything the crowd wanted them to perform live.

The recently held concert was packed with great news, good vibes and amazing moments — Kitchie shared the joy of being an expectant mother, Barbie showed a video montage of her kids as she sang a song she’s written for them, while Aia serenaded the audience with her song “Sundo” accompanied only by her acoustic guitar. The concert was also attended by singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel who collaborated with Barbie for the song, “Wag Ka Nang Umiyak.”

The concert was in three parts with three individual sets. Crowd-pleasing collaboration on a jam session includes songs like The Carpenter’s “Superstar, Coldplay’s “Fix You,” and a mash up song of Sara Hickman’s “Simply” and DJ Alvaro’s “Ang Tipo Kong Lalake.”

The trio showed a sneak peek of their new songs — Aia’s “Sa ‘Yo” released under Warner Music (“Tao Lang” and “Sundo” will soon be part of her upcoming solo debut), Kitchie’s “Wandering Stars” with her ethereal vocals around a pop-electro sound and Barbie’s “Secrets” her latest single and a special release for the concert’s repeat.

Gabi Na Naman Productions has given us another simple yet intimate night of music experience after the sold-out success of DAMA concert featuring acclaimed singer-songwriters Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel, and Bullet Dumas.

We are looking forward to more concerts like this, a more powerful vehicle for discovering and experiencing music than streaming and You Tube. In Aia, Barbie and Kitchie concert, OPM remains potent in its timeless appeal after seeing the crowd’s energetic flow that weaved in and out of the live music stage.

Overall, it was a nostalgic and incredibly pleasant experience to embrace the three awesome women in rock, each with a well-honed charm, vibrant personality and distinct music as they revealed their greatest “secrets,” which is nothing else but their love and passion for OPM and music.
