This month’s Music Roll is all about paying tribute, paying tribute to second chances in the midst of new challenges of Popoy and Basha’s married life, paying tribute to nostalgia, memories of our old self and of welcoming new chapters in life from Adele’s groundbreaking new album “25,” paying tribute to people in music who continue to put melodies in the lives of people in Star Awards for Music and the AMAs, paying tribute to collaborations and jazz traditions from Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, paying tribute to love and blessings we have received and giving back to people from ABS-CBN and GMA Christmas station IDs, and paying tribute to people who have joined the Creator and that they will guide us from among the stars.
‘A Second Chance’ brings out the ‘hugot’ once again in Pinoys
Eight years since the blockbuster hit “One More Chance” (2007), the romantic-drama that sent Pinoys in a frenzy with Popoy and Basha’s story of love lost and found again is back on the big screen to tell the new challenges in Popoy and Basha’s married life. Video trailer by ABS-CBN Star Cinema.
Expect a new round of unforgettable lines from Popoy and Basha as Filipino moviegoers watch their story unfold for the second time.
Along with the film’s absolute “hugot” lines, it also brought along its wave Erik Santos’ version of the Nexxus original “I’ll Never Go” that was covered and released by Santos in 2005. Since then, the song has become synonymous to the film and upon hearing it reminds anyone of Popoy and Basha’s heartfelt story from the now beloved classic One More Chance.
This time around, Juris’ version of Steven Curtis Chapman original “I Will Be Here,” which is popularly known from Gary Valenciano in 2000 adds up with I’ll Never Go as the film’s two theme songs. Relive Popoy and Basha’s classic story and bring out the feels as you sing along to I’ll Never Go and I Will Be Here.
Adele breaks records in new album “25”
It’s been four years waiting for a new album from Adele since her last release and second album “21” in 2011, now the singer is back in full swing with the recent release of her most awaited album called “25.” She started her comeback with the release of her first single “Hello” from the said album with over 500 million hits on Vevo.
In her homeland UK, the album has now reached number 1 with a breaking record of 800,307 copies sold on its debut chart week, surpassing that of Oasis’ “Be Here Now” with 696,000 copies according to Official Chart history. It’s also the number 1 downloaded album with 252,423 digital copies on its first week.
And that’s not stopping Adele, 25 has also become this year’s best-selling album in the U.S. as it breaks NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached” record of 2.42 million in 2000 and Britney Spears’ “Oops!…I Did It Again” single-week album sales record (female artist) of 1.32 million with more than 3 million sales.
But hold your horses, there’s more to watch from 25 in the coming months as Christmas approaches, we’ll just have to wait and see. Below are the new songs included in the album courtesy of courtesy of AdeleVEVO & Dustin Ginsberg.
Musicians pay tribute to Paris and other attacks in the world

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga already up for “Cheek to Cheek” part two
Music legend Tony Bennett and “Poker Face” singer Lady Gaga’s first collaboration “Cheek to Cheek” was a huge success upon its release September last year, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard 200, Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts, as well as sold-out tour that ended this past August and a Grammy.
In the rounds of Bennett’s new covers album “The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern, the music legend reveals that a concept is already at hand for his second collaboration with Lady Gaga, this time featuring Cole Porter classics.
Lady Gaga in the meantime has her hands full as she works on her upcoming solo album. The singer last released an album in 2013 with her third called “ArtPop.” She is also seen in the FX series “American Horror Story: Hotel” on its fifth season.
The two singers complement each other well, as it’s also a well-suited venue for Lady Gaga to showcase her jazz talents, reach out to older audiences and bring jazz to the younger generation. Below is a run down of songs from their first “Cheek to Cheek” album, video by LadyGagaVEVO.

ABS-CBN & GMA Christmas station IDs usher in the Christmas spirit
In the tradition of Filipino Christmas celebration, ABS-CBN and GMA released their Christmas station ID music videos to officially welcome the 2015 Christmas spirit. As with all classic Christmas songs, Filipinos are already singing along to these new Christmas songs that perfectly embody the authentic Filipino Christmas. Adding up to the joy are today’s favorite television and movie stars featured on the songs’ music videos.
It’s the Kapamilya custom to always come out with an original and beautiful song for their annual Christmas station IDs. This year is extra special as the song “Thank You For The Love” is written by Robert Labayen with music by award-winning duo Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana.
And in a rare occasion, today’s three hottest loveteams: KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo), JaDine (James Reid & Nadine Lustre) and LizQuen (Liza Soberano & Enrique Gil) collaborated for the first time to perform the song alongside The Voice Kids Ph Season 2 winner Elha Nympha and singer Bamboo. Of course, not to miss is the gathering of Kapamilya premier stars from both the entertainment and broadcast industry.
Meanwhile on the Kapuso side, the network’s Christmas station ID is titled “MaGMAhalan Tayo Ngayong Pasko” and interpreted by Alden Richards. The music video is headlined by the KalyeSerye loveteam AlDub composed of Alden Richards and Dubsmash Queen Maine Mendoza or Yaya Dub, alongside star couple DingDong Dantes and Marian Rivera.
