It’s September and we know what that means – the start of the long holiday celebration in the country. And because it’s Ber months already, frequent afternoon and evening downpour is almost an everyday sight, along with even long hours on the road of course. But this is no season to fret, instead of letting the heavy downpour and traffic dampen our spirits, let music be our beacon of light amidst the rain and endless-like traffic.
This month, let the start of the season be the spark of the celebration for OPM all-originals from Sitti, TJ Monterde, and Moira Dela Torre; for fiery inspiration and passion from Heneral Luna’s theme song; to new beginnings and challenges from Nicole Asensio’s ascend as a solo artist; to JaDine carrying the country’s pride to foreign shores; to love’s redemptive nature in Aicelle Santos’ new single; and to flying high with Kyla.
VerJube Photographics introduces #VJPMusicRoll – a monthly round-up of selected major news surrounding the OPM music circle and other relevant updates and developments in worldwide music.
For our first release, we are tackling about a Filipino stage and singing icon set to make her Broadway comeback, a highly promising stage actress and singer making waves in London’s West End, a Korean-American songwriter/singer lending her voice for Studio Ghibli, anniversary concert celebration from Asia’s Premiere Vocal Ensemble, a bossa nova happy ending, and the newest songs to get addicted to from PhilPop 2015′s top 12.
It’s been awhile since I attended Sitti‘s gigs and I’m blessed to keep her company that weekend. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to document this weekend tour for the bossagurl. Thanks to Sitti and to MCA Music, I had fun!
The tour supported her latest album under MCA Music entitled “Bossa Love” which included Bossa-fied late 90’s to late 2000’s hits: “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5, “It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy, “Stickwithu” by the Pussycat Dolls, “Back To You” by John Mayer, “Smooth” by Santana, “Someday We’ll Know” by New Radicals, “My Favorite Mistake” by Sheryl Crow, “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys, “Yellow” by Coldplay, “Lost Without You” by Robin Thicke, “Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones, “For You” by Kenny Lattimore, “Waterfalls” by TLC, and “Thank You” by Dido, all produced and arranged by Marvin Querido.
It has been a relaxing trip to watch the Philippines’ Bossa Nova Queen Sitti live performing her new songs from her latest album “Bossa Love,” at “Sitti Bossa Love The Concert and Album Launch” happened last 18 Jan 2014 at the Music Museum. More photos HERE. It’s like enjoying countless hours of the best bossa nova sounds with her unique aesthetic and sexy movements.
