AKAPELA: Our First A Cappella Concert Experience

We’ve been a big supporter of a cappella singers since the time we are asked to cover the Akapela Open led by Mr. Ryan Cayabyab. Since then, it’s been a great three-year experience working with the most amazing people in the music industry.

We are glad to experience another first as the Philippine Contemporary A cappella Society beams with pride this year to present AKAPELA, a one-night-only contemporary a cappella concert featuring two of this generation’s most talented and in demand vocal acts in the country today — Pinopela and Baihana.

Akapela Open 2014: The Recap – A Night Full of A Capella

On October 25, 2014, the championship of Akapela Open 2014 held the ten finalists’ last a capella performances of their lives, their battle to win the best contemporary a capella singing at the Meralco Theater.

We are thankful to Ms. Krina Cayabyab for trusting us again the photo coverage of Akapela Open’s second season. It has always been great to work with the best in the music industry. Thank you also to Aileen Siwa for helping us accomplish all the tasks.

I look around, we could see that a capella singing has become increasingly popular. Additional factors are due to the beautiful music mash-up performances from Pitch Perfect movies and The Sing-Off 3rd Season champion, the incredible Pentatonix.

And because this vocal competition is a project spearheaded by The Music School of Ryan Cayabyab, a competition deemed to be the first of its kind in the country. It aims to promote contemporary a capella singing and appreciation for vocal harmony performance.

It all started from free a cappella workshops given to limited participants which happened last 06 July 2013 at The Music School of Ryan Cayabyab in Robinsons Galleria conducted by The Maestro himself, Mr. Ryan Cayabyab. The series of a cappella workshops gathered great interests to many vocal groups nationswide as they are encouraged not only to join the competition but also to build themselves a community of contemporary a cappella singers.
