Celebrating the Month of Love in Music

It’s the month of love and there’s no better way to celebrate love and all its forms but with music.

This month, we’re celebrating love for music in one of the biggest events we look forward to every year – the Super Bowl Halftime show with performances from none less than the likes of Coldplay with special guests Beyonce and Bruno Mars, in what is dubbed as the celebration of the past half-century of pop music that highly influenced and inspired people and made histories.

There’s also the nostalgic kind of celebration as Asia’s premier vocal ensemble The CompanY commemorates their 30-year musical journey with a new album aptly called “Nostalgia.” For them, nostalgia is both looking into the past and letting it inspire them as they make their way to new boundaries in their career.

Just as the case of The CompanY, Journey’s Arnel Pineda continues to make waves as he recently signed a multi-deal for his solo projects and at the same time juggling tour schedules with his band.

The annual MYX Music Awards also celebrates and recognizes the Pinoy’s love of their own, as it rounds up the final list of nominated musicians and their songs that shaped and shook the OPM world this past year.

Surely not to miss as well is Justin Bieber’s applause-worthy comeback as he rises from scandals from the past two years, and proving to everyone that he’s learned his lessons quite well by coming up with back-to-back hits ever since revealing himself to the spotlight once again through his new album.

And finally, it’s also a celebration of lasting music legacy left by music icons David Bowie, Natalie Cole and Eagle’s Glenn Frey.

Ring in the New Year with New Music

This year’s first Music Roll compiles some of the noteworthy new OPM albums from Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo and boyfriend actor-racer Matteo Guidicelli, from Indie Sweetheart Clara Benin in “Riverchild,” and crooner singing champ Jason Dy with his self-titled debut album.

And although we may have been getting too much of covers the past year in OPM, X-Factor Australia wonder boy Cyrus Villanueva’s debut album “Cyrus” is still a welcome breather with his smooth pop covers of some of music’s biggest hits.

This month also marks the second edition of Fusion ’16 – The Philippine Music Festivals that encourages the Filipinos to continue to dream and aspire for a better Philippines through the world of music.
